Sonos App – Windows 8.1

SONOS APP PROPOSAL – WINDOWS 8.1

The Sonos App for Windows 8.1 was part of a collaboration effort by Sonos and the Microsoft Windows Team. The goal was to explore what a Sonos App experience would look like within the Windows 8.1 platform.

At the time of this exploration, Sonos’ existing app was only within iOS. With that in mind, my colleague Holger Kuehnle and I used that as our starting point to bridge the OS gap in user experiences for Windows 8.1. In addition, our goal was to infuse the Windows 8.1 personality by incorporating our design principles: clean typography, content before chrome, edge to edge scrolling, flat saturated colors, full bleed images and flat glyphs instead of skeuomorphic icons. To maintain the Sonos brand we incorporated the Sonos typeface, brand colors, Sonos graphical tattoo and Sonos Logo.

This project only existed through the design proposal phase and never came to fruition.
